Le Grand pas Deux
Prince Arthur Pendragon, son of Her Royal Highness and Prima Ballerina Assoluta, and His Royal Highness, King Uther, Patron of Royal Opera House, begins his final year at White Lodge. White Lodge is the boarding school where the nations best ballerinas train to compete for spots in the Royal Ballet. He was the highest contender for the coveted spot, having the most flawless of techniques until Merlin Emyrs, a scholarship student joins the school. Unlike, Arthur when Merlin danced, audience cried. He was music itself, and it was as if he floated in the air by magic when he moved. After being paired together to perform a Pas de deux together, Arthur and Emrys begins a tentative friendship. Emrys helps Arthur to feel the music, to relax as he dances, when he begins to dance with the music instead of against it and he teaches Emrys to refine his techniques. As they begin to dance together, Arthur realizes that perhaps his greatest achievement was to be Emrys’s friend.

Orpheus/Eurydice Greek Myth AU: Playing the lyre is one of Arthur Pendragon’s many talents, luring in every living creature with his angelic voice to match. Travelling through the forest, Arthur discovers a shy and enchanting boy not much younger than he who comes from within a nearby willow tree. Merlin, a wood nymph of the forest, falls in love with the musician Arthur who seems to play through his heart, and Arthur realizes he would be a fool to deny his affections for Merlin. Their time together is short, however, as Merlin is poisoned by a snake and his soul is sent to the underworld to dwell. Arthur cannot accept Merlin’s death and travels to the underworld, Hades and Persephone permitting his entrance after being enthralled by the music Arthur once played for Merlin. Merlin is allowed back on earth under one condition: Arthur must wait until they are on earth’s soil again to turn and look upon him. In his excitement, Arthur turns before Merlin can step out of the underworld and he watches him disappear back into the darkness. Arthur is devastated and heartbroken, travelling endlessly and performing forlorn music of lost love. In his death, years later, his soul joins Merlin’s in the underworld for all eternity.
